Young people are an essential part of building and promoting responses to the challenges facing society in the 21st century, such as climate change or the sustainability paradigm. For this reason, it is important to awaken in them a critical sense, inspire them to work with and for the community, and offer them tools to develop their full potential to generate positive changes in society.
PRIP, with EcoAtivo as a partner, offers a free intensive course in the methodology Study Action Circles (SAC) to stimulate active citizenship among youth.
You will learn:
– Knowledge about the pedagogical bases and benefits of the START methodology applied to a a SAC format.
– How to design activities in the context of a SAC format;
– Skills for the facilitation of group mearning processes;
– New approaches, resources and working tools;
– Became part of the Stud-Act Learning community.
– The base knowledge of the Progressive Utilization Theory (PROUT).
Dates: 8-day training course, from 5th to 12th of March
Location: Ecovillage Ananda Kalyani, located at the foothills of the Serra da Estrela Natural Park (Portugal)
Diet: Vegetarian and Vegan
Costs: The project is financed by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, thus all the activities, accommodation and food are 100% covered by the EU grant.

SAC
Civil rights and anti-war activist in the 1960s organizaed a “Macroanalysis” study circles to understand the roots of social and economic problems. This structure allowed to create democratic approach to self-education and empowering people.
We have been developing a working tool under the frame of START (Study, Think, Act and Respond Together) where the role of the facilitator is essencial to get a democratic and inspiring process for youth.
Prout Research Institute Portugal (PRIP) a non profit association that seeks pro-active ways to improve economic and environmental resilience, especially in rural territories, where the community plays a fundamental role.
To stimulate key attitudes and competences for active citizenship among young people, the PRIP’s Education Department has been using the methodology of Study-Action Circles (SAC) based on the book “Tools to change the world”.


This Training is considered an intensive no-formal education programme, designed to help you in the process of preparing and guiding a SAC. In it we adopt an experiential approach, where cognitive, emotional and corporal come together in the same process, generating a higly meaningful learning experience.
FORMAT SESSIONS: Theory modules, facilitation techniques training, practical SAC sessions, group work, learning community sessions and networking.
